Born in Buffalo, New York in 1975, David Goggins grew up in a dysfunctional family. His father was physically abusive and his mother was emotionally distant, and as a result, David suffered from a severe case of low self-esteem. He struggled in school, and his classmates often made fun of him because of his weight and his race (David is African American).
Despite these challenges, David had a dream: he wanted to become a Navy SEAL. He was inspired by a TV show he saw when he was a child, and he knew from that moment on that he wanted to be a member of this elite group of warriors.After high school, David tried to enlist in the Navy, but he was turned down because he was overweight. Undeterred, he began to exercise and train relentlessly, losing more than 100 pounds in just three months. He eventually earned a spot in the Navy, and after completing basic training, he began his journey to become a SEAL.
David's time in the Navy was not easy. He faced numerous physical and mental challenges, and he was often pushed to his limits. But he refused to give up, and he eventually earned his SEAL trident.
After leaving the Navy, David continued to push himself to new heights. He became an ultra-endurance athlete, running in some of the most grueling races in the world. He also set world records for pull-ups, and he completed a 24-hour race where he ran more than 100 miles.David's story has inspired countless people around the world.
