REVENANT INSPIRED BY TRUE STORY

"The Revenant" is a 2015 survival drama film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Domhnall Gleeson. The movie was based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Michael Punke, which was inspired by the true story of the American frontiersman Hugh Glass.

The story takes place in 1823 and follows Glass (DiCaprio), a fur trapper who is leading a group of hunters and trappers through the uncharted wilderness of the Louisiana Purchase. While scouting for game, Glass is viciously attacked by a grizzly bear and left badly wounded. His fellow trappers, including John Fitzgerald (Hardy) and Jim Bridger (Will Poulter), attempt to carry him to safety but ultimately abandon him after being convinced by Fitzgerald that Glass is unlikely to survive and that Indians are closing in on them.

Despite his injuries, Glass is determined to survive and sets out on a perilous journey through the wilderness to reach the nearest trading post, where he can get help. Along the way, he faces numerous challenges, including harsh weather conditions, hostile Native American tribes, and his own physical limitations.

As Glass makes his way through the wilderness, he is haunted by visions of his deceased wife and son, who were killed by Native Americans in an earlier attack. These visions drive him to continue on his journey despite the odds stacked against him.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald and Bridger continue on their journey, believing that Glass is dead. However, they soon discover that Glass is still alive and begin to fear retribution for leaving him behind. Fitzgerald decides to take matters into his own hands and kill Glass, but Bridger is reluctant to participate.

The film culminates in a tense confrontation between Glass and Fitzgerald, with Glass ultimately getting his revenge for being left for dead and forced to suffer in the wilderness.

"The Revenant" received critical acclaim upon its release, with particular praise being given to DiCaprio's performance, which earned him his first Academy Award for Best Actor. The film also won Oscars for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects, among others.
